Battlestar Galactica - The Face of the Enemy Webisodes

The release of the first two BSG webisodes for The Face of the Enemy signals the beginning of the end for one of the boldest television shows in recent memory.

The Face of the Enemy follows Lt. Felix Gaeta a few days after the Colonial Fleet discovers "Earth". Spoilers will follow in the posts below, so be sure to catch up with the webisodes released to date before you read too far.

So, what are your impressions of the webisodes so far?

Webisode I:

So #1 opens with a bit of a flash forward montage of Gaeta on the Raptor 9 days after the discovery of "Earth". We see he's a bit beaten and bloody, the lights of the Raptor flash on and off and the consoles don't appear to be working up to snuff. There is a countdown timer. A possible kiss with an Eight. Needles. Drawing of blood from a hand. Felix writing a list of names. All very cryptic.

Tigh is obviously still the XO since he's seen ordering Gaeta to take some shore leave on the Zephyr.

Next is the much anticipated kiss between Gaeta and another male officer who provides him with some chemical goodness since Gaeta is obviously in some pain, what with the amputated leg and all. I thought it was handled rather tastefully. They obviously weren't sensationalizing it.

Next we see that the Cylons are integrated into the fleet as two Eights move to board the Raptor with Gaeta. When Gaeta stumbles, girl-next-door Eight moves to help, while kung-fu-grip Eight doesn't lift a finger. A display of the difference in personalities even among the same model, obviously.

On the way to the Zephyr, Gaeta's boyfriend calls for an emergency jump from the CIC citing inbound Cylon attackers. Following the Fleet's jump, the Raptor finds itself lost at sea with no one else around.

Webisode II:

No one around. Jump drive is broken. Maintenance guy prays to Poseidon. KFG Eight says "We're a long way from water." Possible fan reference to Season 1: Ep 2 Water? You know....the one where Boomer sabotages the water supply and suspects she's a Cylon? Raptor apparently jumped over the red line....which means you can't hit the undo button. KFG can recognize star patterns.

So GND Eight asks Felix if he recognizes her. "It's me..", she says, smiling. Interesting time to reacquaint yourself. Nothing important going......just lost in the void of space and perhaps hours from death. Why did the coordinates change. Is Eight playing the saboteur yet again?

So, jumping back to Galactica...the attack was a false alarm. Felix's boyfriend wants to take a Raptor to go look for him...even though he has no idea where to look. Tigh thinks he's stupid. BF thinks the Universe will show him the way. Wha?

Back on the Raptor, there's 20 hours of air left....so lets reduce the percentage of oxygen and make everyone dizzy and crazy to stretch it out. Sounds like a solid plan. What could possibly go wrong?
